Long long ago, to the north of river Ganga was the great kingdom of Avadh. It was situated on the banks of river Sarayu. The capital of Avadh was Ayodhya which was built by Manu the famous king of Solar Dinesty. The people of Avadh were very happy and contended. The King Dasrath who was the son of famous king Raghu ruled Ayodhya. He was well versed in Vedas, pious and religious king and was a royal sage as good as a Maharshi. He Protected Ayodhya as Indra Protected his capital Amrawati. He was a superlative carhero (Atirathi) of Ikswaku race, was devoted to virtues and was given to the control of his senses. He was far sighted and highly glorious and was loved by his people.

The King Dasrath had three queens Kaushalya, Sumitra and Kaikeyi. In the midst of all his prosperity, the king Dasharatha had one regret, he had no child. Dasharatha then thought of performing ‘Putra-Kamesthi’ Yajna. On Sage Vasistha's advice he requested Sringi-Muni to perform Yajna. From the holy fire Agni Deva came out and presented a bowl of ‘Payasam’ as the Prasad to the king Dasharatha. The king distributed it among his three queens. He divided the payasam into two halves and gave one half of it to his eldest queen Kaushalya. He then divided the other half into two equal parts and gave one part to the youngest queen Kaikeyi Jhen he divided the other part into two halves and gave one each to Kaushalya & Kaikeyi to be handed over by them to Sumitra his second queen. Thus Kaushalya got half share of the Payasam and Kaikeyi got one quarter share. Sumitra also got one quarter but in two pieces of one eight each through Kaushalya & Sumitra. In due course of time after completing the gestation period Kaushalya gave birth to Ram and Kaikeyi to Bharat. Where as queen Sumitra gave birth to Laxman and Shatrughna and in due course of time four sons were born. Kaushalya gave birth to Rama, Sumitra to Lakshmana & Shatrughna and Bharat was born to Kaikeyi.

The four princes grew up to be strong, virtuous, brave and lovable. They loved each other very much. Lakshmana was more attached to Rama. The king Dasharatha spared no pains to give proper education to all his sons. They were more trained in the Arts of Warfare. After their training they returned to Ayodhya. When they got enriched with wisdom, they were all adorned with virtues but still they were modest, glorious, all knowing and far sighted. They were also devoted to the services of their parents and were well versed in the science of Archery with an arrow and bow in the hands of each they appeared most charming. Their beauty enraptured the whole creation both animate and inanimate. Through which ever street the four brothers passed in pursuit of their sport, all the men and women there stood motionless on seeing them.

One day Sage Vishwamitra arrived at the court of king Dasharatha and requested him to send Rama along with him. He was performing a Yajna and the powerful Rakshasas ‘Mareecha’ and ‘Subaahu’ were disturbing him and Vishwamitra needed Rama's help to destroy them. King Dasharatha at first refused, but on Sage Vasistha’s advice he agreed to send Rama and Lakshmana with Sage Vishwamitra. Turning to the sage Viswamitra then he said, “My Lord, the two boys are my very life. You are their only father now, holy sir; there is no one to look after them except you.” He then blessed Rama & Laxmana in many fold ways. The princes then went to take blessing from their mothers. The two heroes, lions among men, oceans of compassion, resolute of purpose, and the ultimate cause of the whole universe, gladly proceeded to rid the sage of his fear.

The two princes along with Sage Vishwamitra made their way through the Dandaka forest. Rama had reddish eyes, broad chest and long arms, his body was having colour of blue lotus or tamala tree. With a beautiful quiver fastened at his back with a yellow piece of cloth wrapped around his waste. He held in his two hands a lovely bow and arrow respectively. In the forest lived Taadaka (wife of Sunda, a Yaksha) and her son Mareecha who was the source of all troubles to the Rishis. Determined to kill Taadaka Rama strung his bow which enraged the demoness. She raced towards him. Rama killed her by piercing the arrow through her chest, but recognising her as deserving of compassion bestowed his own state to her.

Then Sage Vishwamitra took Rama and Lakshmana to his Ashrama and there began his yagna. For six days and nights the princes kept a strong vigil. On the sixth day they saw Mareecha and Subaahu. As hey were prepared to disturb the Rishis, Rama shot the Maanavaastra on Mareecha which hurled him the full hundred Yajnas near the Sea. Rama killed Subaahu with Aagneyaastra. The other Rakshasas who came along with Subaahu and Mareecha were also utterly destroyed by Lakshmana. Having killed the demons in this way Rama rid the Brahmins of their fear. Devas and Rishis offered praises to him.

After successfully completing the Yajna, Sage Vishwamitra expressed his desire to take Rama and Lakshmana to the kingdom of Videha. On their way they saw an unattended but a very beautiful Aashram. Sage Vishwamitra told them the story of ‘Ahilya’, wife of Sage ‘Gautama’ who was turned into a stone piece. Ahilya was deceived by Indra and yielded to his unholy desires. Sage Gautama was enraged with Indra and after cursing Indra and prescribing a long penance for his erring wife, he went to the Himalayas. When Rama set his foot on the stone piece, the curse was lifted and Ahilya turned into a lady of majestic beauty. She stood before him with folded hands and then cleaved to his feet and tears streamed from both her eyes. She praised Rama in many ways & expressed her gratitude. Simultaneously, Sage Gautama returned to the Aashram and received his repentant wife back to his affection.

From Ahalyas Aashram Sage Vishwamitra took the two princes Rama and Lakshmana to Janakpuri. King Janaka felt very happy seeing the two princes and asked Vishwamitra all about them. He had arranged a ‘Dhanusha Yajna’ with a great bow of Lord Shiva, ‘AJ GAVA’. He had taken a Vow that he would marry off his daughter to the prince who could snap the bow. None of the kings present could even lift the bow. On Sage Vishwamitra’s insistence and permission, Rama lifted the bow effortlessly as if it were a garland of flowers and strung it with such an irresistible force that the mighty bow snapped. An awful crash resounded through all the spheres on hearing which the devas uttered shouts of victory. Rama tossed on ground the two broken pieces of the bow, and every one rejoiced the sight. The shouts of victory reechoed through out the universe & even the crash that followed the breaking of the bow was drawned in it. King Janaka was very happy. According to his promise he arranged marriage of Sita with Rama. Messengers were sent to Ayodhya for king Dasharatha's permission which he gave heartily. Seeing the bravery valour and beauty of Rama, Sita was also happy at her heart and took pride in the fact that such a person will be her husband. But she became overawed by the personality of Rama and was awstruck by the height of the occassion. She became motionless and speachless. One of her friends reminded her of the duty of garlanding Rama. Sita tried to lift the Jaymala but due to extremity of feelings she was unable to garland Rama. Her hands lifting the Jaymala appeared as if they were stalks of two lotus flowers carrying a heavy garland. Sita amassed courage and garlanded shri Rama and the Jaymala shown on the chest & neck of Rama like victory glorified. Rama married Sita amidst much pomp and splendour in the presence of two kings. Lakshmana, Bharat and Shatrughna were also married at the same time on the same Lagna Mandapa. Lakshmana was married to Urmila, Bharat with Mandavi and Shatrughna with Shrutkirti.

At that time Sage Parashurama came to Janak’s palace. When he saw Lord Shiva's bow snapped he was angry and furious on the two princes, particularly on Lakshmana, who behaved unwell. Rama tried to calm down the great Sage in many ways. Seeing Rama's power and behaviour the Sage was confused about Rama's real identity as being the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He offered to give his bow to Rama, which went itself to Rama's hands. Seeing this magnificient act Rishi started praying Rama and asked for his forgiveness as he could not identify him earlier. All the kings and others present felt a sigh of relief from the great terror being gone and the Kshatriya race thus being saved, as sage Parashuram withdrew to the woods after praising Rama & Lakshmana in many-many ways, and Pleading guilty of not realising the truth earlier and saying so many abusive words to both the brothers.

Rama and Sita spent many happy years at Ayodhya. One day king Dasharatha seeing his face in mirror realised that he was growing old. After consulting Guru Vashistha he made arrangements to crown Rama as the next king. Every one at Ayodhya was very happy at this decision but Indra and all other Devtas did not want Rama to be crowned because they were very much troubled by Ravana and other mighty demons. They went to Saraswati, the Goddess of wisdom and requested her to do something so that the purpose, for which Rama had taken incarnation on the Earth, is fulfilled. On the repeated requests of all the Devtas the Goddess Saraswati went to Ayodhya and made Manthara, evil minded. Manthara was a maid-servant to queen Kaikeyi-.She made the queen believe that Rama's coronation would bring the never ending miseries to her and her son Bharat. On Manthara's advice Kaikeyi took off all her jewelleries and assumed a dishevelled look. King Dasharatha was so perplexed seeing his most beloved wife that he promised to do everything to make her happy. Kaikeyi then asked for the two boons that were earlier promised to her by king Dasharatha. Firstly, she wanted Bharat to be crowned as the king and secondly, Rama to be sent to exile for 14 years. King Dasharatha became helpless due to his boons given long time ago. He asked for mercy and agreed to crown Bharat but Rama not to be sent to exile. But the queen was adamant for her desires.

Poor Dasharatha was in extreme agony pulled by natural affection on one side and by moral obligation to fulfil his promise on the other side. When Rama came to know the cause of his father's distress he decided to honour his father's pledge very happily. He made himself ready for exile that very day. Lakshmana insisted on accompanying him. Rama also had to take Sita along with him although he tried very hard to dissuade her by telling about the hardships and dangers of a forest life. Sita could not be convinced as she felt that it was her Dharma to follow her husband everywhere. Thus three of them Rama, Sita and Lakshmana set out for the life in exile.

On Dasharatha's orders Sumantra drove Ram, Sita and Lakshmana away from Ayodhya in his chariot. They were followed by masses who waited around and tried to prevent them from leaving. Rama requested them to return to Ayodhya but they still continued to follow them. At night the entire caravan stayed on the banks of river Tamsa. Ram requested tie followers once again to return to Ayodhya. But they did not paid any heeds and tried to stay with Ram where ever he goes. Though Ram was impressed by their love and attention for him, but he was sage not to take them with him. He was perturbed on this account but he finally decided to leave them, while they were sleeping. In the midst of night when the people were deep asleep Ram asked Sumantra to drive them away from river Tamsa towards deeper forests. So the people were left behind.

The chariot travelled for the whole day and they arrived at Shringaverpur on the banks of river Ganga. When Nishadraj Guha (the Chief of the Kevats) heard of their arrival, he heartily welcomed them along with all his family, relatives and people. After taking the rest for the night Rama requested Guha to arrange for a best to cross the river. Guha summoned the boat and it arrived before stepping on the boat, Guha requested Rama to wash off his feat by his own hands on the plea that by touching the dust on Ramas jeet his boat will turn into a woman as happened when Ahilya who had become a statue on Rishi Gontams nurse on being touched by Rama feat had turned into a beautiful woman as earlier she was. Rama understanding his desire smiled and allowed Guha to wash his feet. Guha after getting permission brought on open pot of water and started washing the feet of Rama. After washing his feet he and his family drank the water in the pot and with this Guha attained salvation. The three of them driven in the boat by Guha reached prayagraj the confluence of river Ganga and Yamuna.

After crossing the river. They all stood on the sand of the bank of river Ganga. Guha touched Rama’s feet. Ram left hesitant to give him something for his services. Sensing the feelings in Rama’s heart sita removed one of his rings and offered it to Guha . But Guha refused to take it. He said that he now does it want anything as he already had got everything and his all the sorrows and miseries have gone. He had toiled hard for past several year to earn his livelihood but now he is an emancipated person. The only needs the love affection, and blessings of shri Ram. Even after many requests from both Rama & Sita Guha did not take anything hence Rama allowed him to go after embracing him and saying some good word sand granting him the boon of his blessings.

Set out on his jouney for the Dandaka Forest, with sita and Laxmana at dusk, shri Rama reached the hermitage of sage Bhardwaj in the vicinity of the confluence of river Ganga & Yamuna. The sage advised them to go to Chitrakoot as that was the fittest place for them to sojourn in Early next morning Rama left his hermitage and proceeded towards chitrakoot.

Meanwhile, Sumantra, on Rama's insistence, returned to Ayodhya to find the sick and anguished King Dasharatha waiting expectantly for the return of his sons. He was totally shattered when he found Sumantra returning alone. Entering the Royal Gynaeceum. He reported to the king that Rama Laxmana & Sita have departed to chitrakut. Hearing this king Dashratha felt into a swoon. He felt perplexed in his mind and dropped unconscious to the ground, as he was tormented with the grief caused by separation from Rama. Kaushlya tried to console him when he regained consciousness, and pursued him not to give way to grief. Sumantra also tried very much to console him. Dasharatha remembered the curse that was Inflicted upon him by Shrawan Kumar's blind saint father whose son he had killed unknowingly. The blind saint had cursed him that he would also die from the separation of his son. The curse proved to be true as King Dasharatha finally fell dead remembering and calling 'He-Ram, He-Ram, He-Ram'. Since the king breathed his last with the thought of Rama foremost in his mid, his soul got emancipated and attained nirvana.

When saint Vasistha was informed of the King's death he at once sent messengers to Kekaya to bring back Bharat and Shatrughna who had gone there to visit their maternal grand parents. Bharat was overwhelmed with grief and anger when he came to know of Rama's exile and the cause of his father's death. He rebuked his mother Kaikeyi and refused to accept the kingship. After performing the last rites of the dead king he went to forest with Shatrughna, his all the three mothers and army to crown Rama in the forest and bring them back, people of Ayodhya followed him. Raja Janak also went to forest to persuade Rama. Seeing Bharat coming with army Lakshmana was suspicious but on Rama's advice he kept himself in control till Bharat made his request. Bharat tried in many ways but Rama politely refused to go back and wished to fulfil his father's desires. Unable to persuade Rama, as a last resort, Bharat brought Rama's Sandals as his representative and set them on the throne. He abandoned all the luxuries of the palace, put on the guises of a saint, lived in a cottage and with the help of Councils of Ministers ruled the kingdom as his religious duty until Rama returned from the exile.

दस साल बहुत खुशी से संपन्न हुए । एक दिन, राम, लक्ष्मण और सीता उनका आदर व्यक्त करने क़े लिए ऋषि अगस्त्य के आश्रम मे गए । ऋषि ने उनसे उनके घर पर रहने के लिए पूछा, जो शांतिपूर्ण था औऱ राक्षसो की अशांति से मुक्त था। राम ने अपने विनम्र तरीके से इनकार कर दिया क्योंकि उन्होंने राक्षसो से पृथ्वी को मुक्त करने और ऋषियों की रक्षा के लिए अवतार लिया था । ऋषि ने दण्डक वन में पंचवटी नामक स्थान पर रहने के बारे में राम को सलाह दी ।

Ten years passed quite happily. One day, Rama, Lakshmana and Sita went to sage Agastya's Ashram to pay him their regards. Sage asked them to stay at his place which was peaceful and free of Raakshasa's disturbance. Rama refused in his polite way as he had taken incarnation to free the Earth from Devils and Raakshasas and protect Rishis thus. The sage advised Rama about Panchavati in Dandaka forest to make their place for stay.

गोदावरी नदी के किनारे, पंचवटी एक शांतिपूर्ण और खुबसूरत स्थान था जो कि पहाड़ियों से घिरा हुआ था । उन्होंने वहां घास और पत्तियों की झोपड़ी बनाई और अपना समय पूजा-पाठ करने, फल - फूल एकत्रित करने, वृक्षों को पानी देने, और पूराने दिनों की चर्चा मे व्यतीत किया.

Panchavati was a peaceful and beautiful spot on the banks of river Godavari surrounded by hills. They built there, their cottage of grass and leaves and started spending time in worshipping, collecting flowers and fruits, watering trees and talking of the past days.

एक दिन सूर्पणखा ( रावण की बहन ) ने राम कि अद्भुत सुंदरता को देखा और उनके लिये एक बेकाबू इच्छा को महसूस किया । उसके पास किसी का भी रूप धारण करने कि एक अद्भुत शक्ति थी । एक खूबसूरत स्त्रीं के रूप मे परिवर्तित हो कर वह राम से मिलने पहुँची और अपने प्यार का इज़हार किया और उसकी पत्नि बनने कि इच्छा व्यक्त की । राम ने विनोदपूर्वक उसका प्रस्ताव ठुकराया और उसे लक्ष्मण से मिलने को कहा । लक्ष्मण ने भी इंकार कर उसे दोबारा राम के पास भेजा और राम ने फिर उसका प्रस्ताव मानने से इंकार कर दिया । अपनी इच्छा की पूर्ति ना होते देख सूर्पणखा ने अपना असली राक्षशी रुप धारण किया । सीता को भयभीत होते देख राम ने लक्ष्मन की ओर देखा और लक्ष्मण ने उसके नाक और कान काट दिये ।

One day Surpanakha, Ravana's sister saw the God like beauty of Rama and-felt an uncontrollable desire for him. She had the magic power to assume any form as per desire. Transforming herself to a beautiful lady she approached Rama and expressed her love and her desire to be his wife. Rama humourously turned her offer down and advised her to approach Lakshmana. Lakshmana too played upto the joke and sent her back to Rama, who again refused her. Not getting her desire fulfilled she showed her true form of Raakshashi. Seeing Sita afraid of her, Rama looked towards Lakshmana who at once cut off her nose and ears.

बदनाम और अपमानित सूर्पणखा बदला लेने के लिये अपने भाई खार - दूषण के पास गई । खार - दूषण अपनी चौदह हज़ार सेना और भाई त्रिशिरा को लेकर राम और लक्ष्मण पर हमला करने के लिए निकला । उनकी संपूर्ण सेना और तीनोँ भाई, राम की माया से विचित्र रूप मे मारे गये । फिर सूर्पणखा, अपने आखिरी भाई रावण से मिलने गईं और रावण ने विश्वास दिलाया की वो उसके अपमान और बदनामी का बदला जरूर लेगा । सूर्पणखा रावण के लंपट व्यवहार को जानती थी इसलिए उसने रावण को उत्तेजित करने के लिये सीता की अपार सुंदरता का व्याख्यान किया ।

Disgraced and humiliated, Surpanakha went to her brothers Khar-Dooshan for taking revenge. Khar-Dooshan at once went with their fourteen thousand army and brother Trishira to attack Rama & Lakshmana. The whole of army and the three brothers killed themselves in a strange way by Rama's maya. Surpanakha at last went to her brother Ravana, who promised to avenge her disgrace and insult. Surpanakha knew that Ravana was a lustful creature and so in order to inspire him she was full of praises of Sita's sublime beauty.

सूर्पणखा की हालत देखकर रावण विचारशील हो गया । वो जानता था की भगवान विष्णु के अलावा, उसके भाइयो को मारने का साहस किसी मे नही है । रावण ने सोचा यदि भगवान विष्णु ने एक मानव के रूप मे इस धरती पर अवतार लिया है तो वह उनसे शत्रुता निभाएगा और उनकी ह्त्या कर बैकुंठ्लोक चला जाएगा और यदि खार - दूषण को मारने वाले लोग साधारण हुए तो उनकि हत्या कर खुबसूरत सीता को उठा ले आएगा । तदनुसार, रावण ने एक योजना बनाई और सहायता हेतु मारीचा के आश्रम मे पहुचा । रावण की योजना सुनने के पश्चात मारीचा भयभीत हो गया क्योकि उसे राम की असीम ताकत का अनुभव पहले से ही हो गया था । उसे यह भी ज्ञात हो गया था की रावण राक्षसो के सम्मान, राजा का कर्तव्य और सूर्पणखा की बदनामी की चर्चा कर रहा है पर वह सीता को पाने की लंपट इच्छा से भी ज्ञातव्य था । मारीचा ने रावण को रोकने का पूर्ण प्रयास किया किन्तु असफल रहा । अंत में मारीचा सहमत हो गया और अपनी मृत्यु भगवान के हाथों निश्चिंत पाकर अपने घर जाने पर विचार करने लगा ।

Seeing Surpanakha's condition Ravana was thoughtful. He was aware of the fact that none-else except Lord Vishnu could kill his brothers who were mighty like himself. He thought that if Lord Vishnu has taken incarnation on this earth in the form of a man, he will take enmity with Him and if killed his life will be successful and he will go finally to Baikunthalok. If the persons who have killed Khar-Dushan are ordinary man, he will kill them and bring forcibly the sublime beauty, Sita. Accordingly, he chalked out a plan and went to Mareecha's ashram to seek his help in carrying out the plan. Listening to Ravana's plan Mareecha was frightened because he had experienced Rama's power earlier. He also realised that though Ravana spoke of the honour of Raakshasas, the duty of kingship and the insult of Surpanakha but he was really impelled by a lustful desire to possess Sita. Mareecha tried to dissuade Ravana, who however was far from being pleased or convinced. At last Mareecha agreed thinking the surity of death by the hands of Lord and thus going to his abode.

एक दिन राम ने सीता से कहा की धरती और ऋषियों को बचाने के लिये उसे बहुत सारे राक्षसो का वध करना होगा । इस कार्य के पूर्ण होने तक उसने सीता को आग के घेरे मे रहने की सलाह दी । सीता ने एक बार आग में प्रवेश कर अपनी छवि छोड़ी । उस वक़्त लक्ष्मण वहां नही था । रावण की योजना के अनुसार मारीचा ने खुद को एक स्वर्ण मृग जिसकी त्वचा पर अमुल्य नग लगे थे, के रूप मे परिवर्तित कर लिया । सीता मृग की सुंदरता पर मंत्रमुग्ध हो गई । उसने खूबसूरत मृग को लाने के लिये राम से आग्रह किया । राम जानता था की मृग के रूप मे मारीचा है । राम ने सीता को समझाया कि कोई मृग सोने और मोतियों से नहि बनता है पर उसके आग्रह पर वह मृग को पकड़ने निकल पड़ा और लक्ष्मण से वही रुक कर सीता की रक्षा करने के लिये कहा। राम मृग का पीछा करते हुए जंगल मे काफी दूर निकल गया और थकावट के कारण उसने एक तीर मृग कि तरफ़ छोडा जो जाकर मृग को लगा । तीर लगते ही मृग अपने प्रारंभिक रूप मे आ गया और अपने मरने से पहले राम की आवाज़ मे लक्ष्मण को पुकारा । जिससे सीता को धोखा हुआ और भ्रमित होकर उसने लक्ष्मण को बार-बार राम की मदद करने का आदेश दिया । इधर लक्ष्मण इसलिए वहा नही जाना चाहता था क्योंकि उसे राम की ताकत पर पूरा विश्वास था और उसे लग रहा था की कुछ गलत होने वाला है । परन्तु सीता के गुस्से और कटु वचन सुनकर उसे सीता को अकेले छोङकर जंगल में जाना पड़ा । जाने से पहले उसने घर के चारो ओर एक रक्षा सीमा खींचीं और सीता से उस सीमा के भीतर रहने को कहा ।

One day Rama told Sita that as he has to kill many a raakshasas and the time has come to save the Rishis and the Earth. He asked Sita to stay in fire till he completes his mission. Sita at once entered in fire and left her shadow only. Lakshmana was not there when this happened. As planned by Ravana, Mareecha transformed himself into a wonderful deer made of gold having many a valuable stones on skin. Sita was spell-bound seeing the wonderous beauty of the stag. She requested Rama to get that wonderful stag for her. Rama knew that Mareecha was in the form of stag. He tried to convince Sita that no stag could be made of gold and jewels but on her insistance he set off to catch the beast, asking Lakshmana to stay there and guard her. Rama went far into the forest chasing the Deer and at last tired of the pursuit he sent-forth an arrow which pierced the stag. Mareecha resumed his original form and mimicking Rama's voice called out to Lakshmana for help, before he died. Sita was deceived by Mareecha’s voice and overwhelmed by fear, she repeatedly asked and ordered Lakshmana to go and save Rama. Lakshmana was unwilling to go as he was sure of Rama’s power and he sensed something was wrong. But Sita’s anger and cruel words forced him to leave her alone and go into the forest. Before leaving he drew a line around the cottage and asked Sita to remain inside that line.

रावण द्वारा सीता का हरण

रावण, जो इस शुभ अवसर का इंतज़ार कर रहा था, उसने खुद को एक भगवा पहने साधु के रूप में परवर्तित किया और सीता से भिक्षा मांगने के लिये पंहुचा । उसने सीता की सुंदरता की प्रसंशा की और कोई भी वस्तु दूर से लेने पर इंकार किया । परिणाम की परवाह न करते हुए सीता ने लक्ष्मण रेखा पार कर दी । तभी रावण ने अपना भेष बदला और बलपूर्वक सीता को अपने रथ में लेकर आकाश की ओर उड़ गया

Ravana, who was waiting for the opportunity, transformed himself into a saffron-clad sadhu and went to Sita begging for alms. He praised for her beauty and refused to accept anything offered to him from a distance. Not realising the consequences Sita crossed the Lakshman-Rekha to do her duty. Ravana then threw up his disguise and forcibly carried Sita to his chariot and rose with her in the sky.

गीध राज जटायु से मुलाक़ात

तब तक राम और लक्ष्मण को प्रतीत हुआ की राक्षस ने उन्हें धोखा दिया है । वो जल्दी से आश्रम की ओर दौड़े पर आश्रम में कोई नहीं था । उन्होंने सीता को हर जगह ढूँढ़ा पर कुछ हाथ नहीं लगा । सीता की खोज के दौरान उन्हे घायल जटायु मिला जो रावण के वार से घायल हो गया था, उसने राम को पूरी क़हानी बतायी और मृत्यु को प्राप्त हो गया ।

Meanwhile, Rama and Lakshmana realised that they were deceived by the Raakshasas. They hurried back to the aashrama only to find it out empty. They searched for Sita every where but could not find her. While searching they found the dieing Jataayu wounded by Ravana who told them the whole story and fell dead.

कबंध गन्धर्व की मुक्ति

दोनों राजकुमार बहुत दुःखी हुए मग़र एक दूसरे को सांत्वना दी । एक दिन, जंगल से गुजरते हुए उनकी मुलाक़ात एक भयानक दैत्य जिसका नाम कबंध था, से हुई , जिसके ना सिर था और ना ही पैर थे । उसका मुँह उसके पेट में था । राम और लक्ष्मण ने उसके हाथ काट कर उसके धड़ को अग्नि मे फेंक दिया । कबंध एक गंधर्व था । वह श्राप से मुक्त हुआ और राम के आशीर्वाद से उसे स्वर्ग कि प्रप्ति हुई ।

The two princes were torn with extreme grief but tried to encourage one another. One day, while passing through the forest they came face to face with an ugly monster named Kabandha who had no head and feet. His mouth was in his belly. Rama and Lakshmana cut off his hands and threw his body into the flames. Kabandha was actually a Gandharva. His curse was lifted and he went to devine place by Rama's blessing.

राम शबरी मुलाक़ात

रास्ते में, दोनो भाई ऋषी मतंग की भक्त्त सन्यासिनी शबरी के आश्रम में रुके । वह बहुत समय से राम के दर्शन करने के लिये प्रतीक्षा कर रही थी । दोनों भाइयों ने उसका आतिथ्य स्वीकार किया हालाँकि वह एक निम्न जाति से थी । राम ने उसके झूटे फल खाए जो उसने काफी दिन से एकत्रित किये हुए थे क्योंकि उसे पता था कि राम और लक्ष्मण एक दिन उसके पास आएंगे । राम ने उसे प्रभु को पाने के नौ रास्ते बताए जिसे नवधा भक्ति के नाम से जाना जाता है। सीता के बारे में पूछने पर उसने उन्हें बताया कि वो पंपा सरोवर की तरफ़ जायेँ और सुग्रीव से मिलें जो सीता की खोज में उनकी मदद करेगा। इस प्रकार शबरी ने अपना जीवन धन्य किया और खुद को योग - अग्नि के हवाले कर भगवान के घर चली गयी ।

On their way, the two brothers arrived at the Aashrama of the old Sanyasini Sabri, disciple of Rishi Matanga. She was waiting for Rama since long time to have the darshan. The two brothers accepted her hospitality although she was from a low cast. Rama ate the fruits offered by her which she had collected for many days when she knew that Rama-Lakshmana will come to her one day. Rama preached her the nine ways of getting Lord. On being asked about Sita she told them to go to Lake Pampa and meet Surgreeva there. Sabri made her life a success, offered herself in Yoga-agni and went to Lord's abode thus.

राम की सती माँ से मुलाक़ात

एक बार भगवान शिव ने विष्णु को देख़ना चाहा । जब उन्हें पता चला की विष्णु ने राम के रूप मे पृथ्वी पर अवतार लिया है तो वो उन्हे देखने के लिये माँ सतीजी के साथ जंगल में पहुचे, जहा उन्होने राम और लक्ष्मण को सीता की खोज मे भटकते हुए देखा । अपने प्रिय राम को देखने पर, शिव बहुत प्रसन्न हुए और इस प्रसंशा और प्यार को प्रकट करने के लिये उनके आगे नतमस्तक हुए । लौटते हुए माँ सतीजी ने अपने प्रभु से पूछा कि वो एक साधारण व्यक्ति के आगे क्यों नतमस्तक हुए । भगवान शिव ने उन्हें बताया की वो कोई साधारण व्यक्ति नही बल्कि भगवान विष्णु है जिन्होंने बुराई को मिटाने के लिये पृथ्वी पर अवतार लिया है । माँ सतीजी ने भगवान शिव कि बातो पर विश्वास नही किया । तब भगवान ने उन्हें खुद राम के पास जाकर सच क पता करने को कहा । माँ सतीजी ने खुद को सीता के परिवेष मे बदलकर राम के समक्ष पहुंची । उन्हें देख कर राम उनके समक्ष नतमस्तक हुए और भगवान शिव के बारे मे पूछा । माँ सतीजी अपने इस भेष पर लज्जित हुई और भगवन शिव के पास वापस आ गई जो दूर से ये सब कुछ देख रहे थे । जब भगवान शिव ने राम की परीक्षा के बारे में मा सतीजी से पूछा तो उन्होंने अपने भेष बदलने के बारे में कुछ नहीं कहा । भगवान शिव सब कुछ जानते थे और उन्होंने माँ सतीजी को अपने दिल से निकाल दिया । भगवान शिव ने माँ सतीजी को पहले ही बता दिया कि जिस दिन वो उनका विश्वास खो देगी उसी दिन वो उसे अपने दिल से निकाल देँगे । माँ सतीजी जानती थी कि भगवान शिव सब कुछ जानते हैं पर वो चुप रही क्योंकि वो राजा हिमाचल की बेटी पार्वती / शैलजा के रूप मे दोबारा जन्म लेना चाहती थी और शिव को दोबारा पाना चाहती थी ।

Once Lord Shiva wished to see his beloved Vishnu. When he came to know that he is on the Earth in the incarnation of Rama, Lord Shiva went to the forest with Ma Satiji where Rama with Lakshmana were searching for Sita with tears in their eyes. On seeing his beloved Rama, Shiva was very much pleased and bowed before him as a sign of admiration and love. On the way back Ma Satiji asked her Lord the reason of bowing before an ordinary man. Lord Shiva told her that he was not an ordinary man but was Lord Vishnu who had incarnated to finish the Devils on Earth. Ma Satiji did not believe Lord Shiva's words. Then Lord told her to go herself to Rama and examine the truth. Ma Sitiji turned herself in the form of Sita and went before Rama. On seeing her, Rama bowed before her and asked whereabouts of Lord Shiva. Ma Satiji was very much ashamed of her disguise and came back to the Lord who was seeing all the drama from a distance. When Lord Shiva asked Ma Satiji about the examination of Rama she did not reveal the truth and kept secret about her disguiseness. Lord Shiva knew everything and abandoned Ma Satiji from his heart that very moment because He was the form of the truth. Lord Shiva had told earlier to Ma Satiji that the day she will not believe him, he will abandon her. Ma Satiji also knew that her Lord had known everything-and abandoned her, but she kept quiet about this, as she was to be reborn as Parvati alias Shailja, a daughter to king Himvana/Himalaya.

हनुमान की राम से मुलाक़ात

दोनों राजकुमार सुग्रीव की खोज में पम्पा सरोवर के निकट ऋष्यमूक पर्वत पर पहुंचे । जब वानरों ने दोनों राजकुमारोँ को तीर - बाण के साथ आते देखा तो पहले वो शंकित हो गये । हनुमान, जो सुग्रीव के मुख्य मंत्री थे, वे एक ब्राह्मण का भेष बदलकर राम के समक्ष प्रस्तुत हुए जिससे वो उनकी पहचान और उनके लक्ष्य के बारे में पता कर सकें । जब हनुमान को पता चला कि वो भगवान राम हैं तो उन्होंने अपना सिर अपने भगवान के आगे झुकाया जिनका वो काफी लम्बे समय से इंतज़ार कर रहे थे ।

The princes reached Rishyamook Mountain near Pampa Sarovar in the search of Sugreeva. When the Vaanaras saw the two princes with bow and arrow coming, they were suspicious at first. Hanuman, the Chief Minister of Sugreeva, assumed the guise of a Brahmin and approached Rama to know his identity and mission. When Hanuman came to know that he was Rama, he bowed his head to his Lord's feet, for which he was waiting since a long time.

राम - सुग्रीव मुलाक़ात

हनुमान राम और लक्ष्मण को सुग्रीव के पास ले गये और सीता के गुमशुदा होने के बारे में बताया । सुग्रीव किष्किन्धा का राजा था । उसका बड़ा भाई बाली था जिसने बलपूर्वक उसकी पत्नी को छीन लिया और उसे राज्य से निकाल दिया । सुग्रीव ने सीता को रोते और चिल्लाते हुए तब देखा था जब रावण उसे बलपूर्वक हरण कर ले जा रहा था । सीता ने अपने कुछ आभूषण रिष्यमूक पर्वत पर गिरा दिये थे, जिन्हें सुग्रीव ने राम को समर्पित किया । दोनों राजाओं ने अग्नि जलायी और उसके समक्ष अपनी दोस्ती की शपथ ली ।

Hanuman took Rama-Lakshmana to Sugreeva and told all about the missing Sita. Sugreeva was the king of Kishkindha. His elder brother Baali had forcibly taken his wife and banished him from his kingdom. Sugreeva had seen Sita weeping and crying for help when she was being taken away by Ravana in the Air. Sita had dropped some of her belongings which Sugreeva handed over to Rama. The two kings lit a fire and took an oath as the bondage of their friendship.

बाली - सुग्रीव युद्ध

राम ने सुग्रीव को उसकी पत्नी और उसका राज्य वापस दिलाने और बाली को मारने का वचन दिया । उन्होंने एक योजना बनायी और सुग्रीव ने अपने भाई बाली को युद्ध के लिये ललकारा । क्योंकि दोनों भाई एक जैसे लगते थे अत: राम बाली को मार नहीं पाये और तब राम ने सुग्रीव को पहचानने के लिये माला पहनने को कहा । सुग्रीव और बाली बहुत समय तक लड़े और आखिर में जब सुग्रीव हारने वाला था, राम ने एक तीर छोडा जो बाली की छाती के पार हो गया । जब बाली ने राम को देखा तो उसने राम से उसे मारने और सुग्रीव का साथ देने का कारण पूछा । राम ने बताया की अपने छोटे भाई की पत्नी को अग़वा करने से वो सज़ा का भागीदार बना । राम ने बाली को जीवन देना चाहा परन्तु बाली ने मृत्यु को चुना और भगवान के घर जाने की इच्छा जताई । मरते हुए बाली ने अपने पुत्र अंगद को राम का सेवक बनाया और उसके जीवन को धन्य किया । राम के आदेश पर लक्ष्मण ने सुग्रीव का राज्याभिषेक किया और उसे किष्किन्धा का राज़ा और अंगद को राजकुमार बनाया

Rama promised to help Sugreeva to get back his wife and kingdom and kill Baali. They chalked out a plan and accordingly Sugreeva challenged his mighty brother Baali for a duel. Since both the brothers looked alike, Rama advised Sugreeva to wear a garland around his neck for recognition. Sugreeva and Baali fought for a long time and at last when Sugreeva was about to be defeated, Rama shot an arrow which pierced Baali's chest. When Baali saw Rama, he fell down on his feet and asked the reason of favouring Sugreeva and killing him. Rama told that since he had kidnapped younger brother's wife he was subject to be punished. Rama offered Baali life to live but he preferred death instead and wished to go to Lord's abode. While dieing he offered his son Aangad as Rama's sevak to be and made his life successful. On the instructions of Rama, Lakshmana crowned Sugreeva as the king of Kishkindha and Aangad as Yuvraaj.

सीता की ख़ोज

सुग्रीव अपने राजपाठ और परिवार के साथ बहुत खुश था । काफी दिन बीतने पर भी वो राम से मिलने नहीं पंहुचा । जब राम ने लक्ष्मण और हनुमान को उसका कर्तव्य याद दिलाने के लिए भेजा तो वह बहुत लज्जित हुआ और अपनी इस भूल के लिए राम से माफ़ी मांगी । सुग्रीव ने अपनी वानर सेना को विभिन्न दिशाओं में सीता की खोज़ के लिए भेजा । कुछ उत्तर की ओर , कुछ पूर्व की और, तथा कुछ पश्चिम की और गए । हनुमान, अंगद, नील और जामवंत दक्षिण में विंध्यास की ओर गए । जाने से पहले हनुमान ने राम के चरण छुए और उनका आशीर्वाद लिया, राम ने हनुमान के सर पर हाथ रखा और उन्हें यह कार्य पूर्ण करने का आशीर्वाद दिया । उनकी पहचान के लिए राम ने उन्हे अपनी एक अंगूठी सीता को देने के लिए दी ।और वह कार्य संपन्न करने के लिए निकल पड़े । रास्ते में उन्हें एक गुफा दिखाई दी जिसमें एक खूबसूरत बगीचा, एक मंदिर और एक झील थी । उस गुफा के भीतर एक तपस्वी नारी बैठी थी और उसने हनुमान और सेना को उनकी आखें बंद कर गुफा से बाहर जाने के लिए कहा । जब उन्होंने अपनी आँखें खोलीं तो खुद को एक समुन्द्र के किनारे पाया । विंध्यास में समुन्द्र के किनारे वो सम्पाती
(जटायु का भाई ) से मिले जो बहुत दूर तक देखने में समर्थ था । उसने बताया कि सीता लंका में अशोक वन में राक्षसों की कड़ी सुरक्षा में कैद है ।

Sugreeva was very happy with his kingdom and family. So many days passed and he did not come back to Rama. So when Rama sent Lakshmana and Hanuman to remind him of his duty, he felt very ashamed and asked Rama to pardon him for his mistake. Sugreeva set out his Vaanara army to different directions in search of Sita. Some went to the North, some to East and some to the West. Hanuman, Aangad, Neel and Jambuwan went South to the Vindhyas. While leaving for search Hanuman touched Rama's feet and asked for his blessings, Rama put his hands on Hanuman's head, blessed him to complete the mission and gave his ring to give Sita as a symbol of recognition. On the way Hanuman his team saw a cave which had a beautiful garden, temple and a lake inside. A tapaswini lady was sitting inside the cave. She (Swayamprabha) asked them to shut the eyes and go outside the cave. When they opened their eyes they found them selve on the Sea shore. Near the Sea shore in the Vindhyas they met Sampati, Jatayu’s brother, who was able to see things far off. He told them that Sita was in Lanka well guarded by Raakshasis.

जामवंत द्वारा हनुमान को लंका जाने का अनुरोध

लंका समुन्द्र के पार कई सौ मील दूर थी । वानरों को समुन्द्र पार कर सीता को खोजने और उसे बचाने जाना था । सभी मुख्य वानर बहुत ताकतवर और मजबूत थे, पर वे भी इतनी दूर तक जाने में असमर्थ थे । तब जामवंत ने हनुमान को उसकी अत्यधिक ताकतवर शक्तियों के बारे में बताया और लंका जाने के लिए कहा ।

Lanka was a hundred Yajna across the sea. The Vaanaraas had to cross the sea in order to find and rescue Sita. Though the Vaanara chiefs were strong and powerful yet they were not able to jump at such a long distance. Then Jamwant reminded Hanuman of his super powerful qualities and asked him to go to Lanka.

हनुमान का लंका जाना

हनुमान, अंजना और भगवान पवन के पुत्र थे । वह बहुत ताकतवर थे । एक बार किशोरावस्था में उन्होंने ढलते सूर्य को एक फल समझकर उसे खाने की सोची और उसे मुँह में ले लिया। उनके सूर्य को अपने मुँह में ले लेने से पूरी धरती पर अँधेरा छा गया । तब सभी ऋषियों और देवताओ के अनुरोध पर उन्होंने सूर्य को अपने मुँह से बाहर निकाला और पूरी धरती को जगमग किया । जामवंत ने हनुमान को समझाया था कि केवल वही अकेले समुन्द्र को पार कर सकते हैं और इसलिए हनुमान ने एक बड़ी उड़ान भरी और समुन्द्र के किनारे मैनाक पर्वत की चोटी पर पहुंचे । तब समुन्द्र देवता ने पर्वत को बताया की इस व्यक्ति को कुछ देर विश्राम करने दें । पर हनुमान ने मैनाक पर्वत को अपने हाथों से छुआ और कहा कि जब तक भगवान राम का कार्य पूर्ण नहीं होता मैं विश्राम नहीं कर सकता और वह आगे बढ़ गये । हनुमान ने फिर एक लम्बी उड़ान भरी और वह लंका पहुँच गये।  हनुमान की इस उड़ान के धक्के से मैनाक पर्वत पाताल पहुंच गया ।

    Hanuman was the son of Anjana and Lord Pavan. He was so powerful that once when he was a very young child he thought the rising Sun to be a fruit and flew towards it to pluck it. He took Sun in his mouth and the whole of world came under darkness. On the request of all the Rishis and Devtas, Hanuman brought out Sun from his mouth and enlighted the World. Jamwant convinced Hanuman that only he could cross the ocean so Hanuman gave a mighty jump and reached at the top of Mainaak mountain near the sea shore. By the jumps of Hanuman the mountain went drowning in the Ocean. Then Sea god told the mountain that let the person on you take rest for a while. But Hanuman touched Mainak mountain by his hands and said I have no rest and peace till Lord Rama's work is done and marched ahead. Hanuman took a mighty jump towards Lanka and proceeded as fast as an arrow shot by Lord Rama. Mainak mountain was pushed to Paatal by back kick of Hanuman.

हनुमान की सुरसा से मुलाक़ात

जब देवताओ ने हनुमान को लंका जाते देखा तो उन्होंने सुरसा नामक नागों की माता को भेजा ताकि वे हनुमान की ताकत और बुद्धिमत्ता का पता कर सके । चालाक सुरसा ने अपना आकार बड़ा करके हनुमान को अपने मुँह में कैद करने की योजना बनाई, पर हनुमान ने भी खुद को उसके मुँह से दोगुने आकार का बनाया । वो अपना मुँह और बड़ा करती गयी और उसी प्रकार हनुमान भी अपना आकार बढ़ाते गए । अंत में हनुमान एक मक्खी के आकार में उसके मुँह से जाकर, उसके नाक से निकले । इस प्रकार हनुमान ने सुरसा की शर्त पूरी की और झुककर उनसे अपना कार्य पूरा करने का आशीर्वाद लिया । सुरसा ने हनुमान को राम का दिया कार्य सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण करने और सही सलामत लौटने का आशीर्वाद दिया ।

When devtas saw Hanuman going to Lanka in search of Sita, they sent Surasha, the mother of serpants to examine his strength and wisdom. Wise Surasha enlarged her shape and tried to take Hanuman in her mouth but Hanuman doubled himself from the size of her mouth. She went on enlarging her mouth, likewise Hanuman made himself bigger and bigger each time and finally by making himself a fly in size, he entered in her mouth and came out by nose. Then Hanuman bowed and asked for her blessings to complete his mission. Surasha blessed Hanuman for coming back successfully after doing the job entrusted by Rama.

हनुमान की सीता से मुलाक़ात

ऐसी कई ताकत और बुद्धिमता की चुनौतियो को पार कर हनुमान लंका पहुंचे । वह वहाँ एक मक्खी के रूप में दाखिल हुए और लंका में पराक्रमी राक्षसों की अत्यधिक भीड़ को देखा । हनुमान ने हर घर और रावण के महल में ढूँढा पर सीता नहीं मिलीं । तब उन्होने एक बहुत खूबसूरत महल के साथ एक मंदिर को देखा जिसमें राम की मूर्ति थी और विभीषण वहाँ बैठे भगवान राम का नाम जप रहे थे । हनुमान ने एक ब्राह्मण का भेष बदलकर विभीषण को अपने और राम के बारे में सब कुछ बताया । विभीषण राम का भक्त था, उसने हनुमान को अशोक बाग़ जाने को कहा जहां असंख्य राक्षसों के बीच रावण ने सीता को बंधक बनाया हुआ था । अति मनोहर अशोक बाग़ में हनुमान ने एक दिव्य नारी को देखा जो एक पेड़ के नीचे चुपचाप और दुखी बैठी थी । उनकी आंख्ने धरती की ओर थी । हनुमान एक वृक्ष के पीछे छिप गए । इसी दौरान रावण वहां राक्षसों और पहरेदारों के साथ आ पंहुचा और सीता को उसकी पत्नी बनने को कहा और डराया कि अन्यथा वह उसका वध कर देगा । सीता ने आवेगपूर्ण उसे कड़े शब्दों में उत्तर दिया कि उसका अंत निकट है, और उस को राम की शक्तियों का अनुमान नहीं हैं । सीता को मनाने में विफल होने के बाद रावण यह कहकर चला गया कि वह एक माह बाद दोबारा आएगा ।

After passing through many such trials of strength and wisdom Hanuman reached Lanka. He entered there in the form of a fly and saw Lanka overcrowded by migthy Raakshasas. Hanuman searched every house and Ravana's palace but could not find Sita anywhere. Then he saw a beautiful Palace with a separate temple marked with Rama's arrows and Vibhishana chanting, the name of his Lord Rama. Hanuman disguised himself as a Brahmana and told Vibhishana all about himself and of Lord Rama. Vibhishana was the devotee of Rama, he told Hanuman to go to Ashoka Garden, where Ravana had kept Sita captivated, guarded by numerours Raakshasis. In exquisitely beautiful Ashoka garden Hanuman saw a divine lady sitting under a tree very quitely, sad and keeping her eyes towards the Earth. He hide himself on that tree. Meanwhile Ravana approached her with numerous Raakshasis and guards and asked to conjoin him to be his wife within a period of time, otherwise he will kill her. Sita replied him vehemently in hard words that his end was near and he does not know the powers of Rama. After failing to persuade Sita, Ravana went away saying that he will come back again after a month.

हनुमान की सीता से मुलाक़ात - 2

हनुमान सीता की यह दुर्दशा नहीं देख सके किन्तु वह नहीं जानते थे कि सीता के समक्ष कैसे जायें इसलिए उन्होंने राम की दी हुई अगूंठी गिरा दी और भगवान के मधुर भजन गाने लगे । सीता भगवान का नाम सुनकर और अंगूठी को देख कर बहुत प्रसन्न और आश्चर्यचकित हुई किन्तु उसने सोचा कि शायद यह रावण की कोई बुरी युक्ति हैं । तब हनुमान उनके समक्ष उपस्थित हुए और अपना परिचय दिया। सीता ने हनुमान से कहा कि वह जल्द राम को उसके दुखी होने की खबर दे और कहे कि वे शीघ्र उसे वहां से ले जाएं क्योंकि अपने प्रभु से दूर होने का दर्द वह अब नहीं सह सकती थी । हनुमान ने सीता से मिलने का कोई चिन्ह माँगा तो सीता ने उन्हें राम को देने के लिए चूड़ामणि दी ।

Hanuman could not see Sita's plight but he did not know how to face her so he dropped the ring given by Rama and uttered the sweet praises of Lord. Sita was amazed and happy to hear Lord's name and see his ring but was suspicious of this being an evil device of Ravana. Then Hanuman alighted before her and gave his introduction. Sita asked Hanuman to inform Rama about her sorrow and take away her at the earliest as she could not tolerate the pain of separation from her Lord. On being asked by Hanuman for giving him some sign of meeting her, she gave her Chooramani to be conveyed to Rama.

हनुमान द्वारा लंका का दहन

सीता का आशीर्वाद और आज्ञा लेने के बाद हनुमान ने राक्षसों को डराने के लिए कुछ करने की सोची । उन्होंने माता सीता से भूखा होने के कारण फल खाने की अनुमति मांगी और इस बहाने से कई विशाल वृक्षों का उन्मूलन कर दिया और खूबसूरत अशोक वन को तबाह कर दिया । कई पहरेदार राक्षसों को मार डाला और जब रावण ने अपने पुत्र अक्षय कुमार को उन्हें पकड़ने के लिए भेजा तो उसे हवा में हज़ारो बार घुमा कर ज़मीन पर फेंक कर मार दिया। अंत में जब रावण के पराकृमि पुत्र मेघनाद ने उनपर नागपाश अस्त्र चलाया तो उन्होंने खुद को मेघनाद (इंद्रजीत ) द्वारा बंधक बना लिया । मेघनाद उन्हें रस्सियों में बांधकर गलियों से घुमाता हुआ रावण के महल तक ले गया । रावण के राजमहल में हनुमान ने राम का गुणगान किया और सीता को तुरंत लौटाने को कहा और रावण को तुरंत राम से क्षमा मांगने को कहा और बताया कि अन्यथा वे उसके पूरे परिवार का अंत कर देंगे । रावण हनुमान के इस उपदेश को सहन नहीं कर सका और विभीषण की सलाह पर उसने हनुमान की पूंछ में कपडा बांधकर उसे आग लगाने की सज़ा दे दी । जैसे ही हनुमान की पूंछ को अग्नि दी गई उन्होंने अपना आकार छोटा कर खुद को रस्सी से छुड़ा लिया और घर घर कूद कर पूरी लंका में आग लगा दी । अपना आतंक फ़ैलाने के बाद वो दोबारा सीता माता के पास पहुंचे और उनसे आज्ञा ली तथा वापस राम तथा अन्य साथियों के पास पहुंचे जो बहुत उत्सुकता से उनकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहे थे ।

After taking blessings and permission of Sita, Hanuman thought of doing something to frighten the Raakshasas. He created havoc by uprooting the huge trees, dismentalling the beautiful Ashoka garden, killing many Raakshasas and Ravanas's son Akhoy Kumar by revolving him in the air a thousand times and then throwing on the ground. Finally he let himself captivated by Meghnad (Indrajeet) who took him tied in ropes through the streets to Ravana's palace. In Ravana's court Hanuman praised for Rama and asked Ravana to return Sita immediately and ask for Lord's pardon otherwise he would be destroyed with his full family. Ravana could not resist to Hanuman's preachings and on vibh shanas advice ordered to put clothes on his tail and lit fire on it. As the fire was put on his tail, Hanuman released himself from the bindings by becoming tiny shaped and jumped from one house to another. He put whole of Lanka in flames. Thus by creating terror he went back to Sita, asked for her permission and went to Rama and others who were eagerly waiting for his return.

हनुमान द्वारा राम को सीता का हाल बताना

हर कोई हनुमान को लौटता देख बहुत प्रसन्न था । हनुमान ने राम को सीता की दी हुई चूड़ामणि दी तथा उनकी दुर्दशा और लंका की घटना का ब्यौरा दिया । राम बहुत आभारी हुए और हनुमान को अपनी बाँहों में उठा लिया । तब राम ने सुग्रीव को बुलाया और लंका जाने के लिए सेना को तैयार करने के लिए कहा ।विजय के नक्षत्र उत्तर फाल्गुनी के उदय होने पर राम, लक्ष्मण, सुग्रीव और असंख्य पराकृमी वानरों की सेना दक्षिण में रावण को एक भयंकर युद्ध के लिए ललकारने और सीता को छुड़ाने चली ।

Every one was delighted seeing Hanuman coming back. Hanuman gave Rama the Chooramani given by Sita and told about her plight and what had happened in Lanka. Rama felt very obliged and took Hanuman in his arms. Rama then called Sugreeva and asked him to get ready his army for Lanka march. Under the star of triumph Uttar Phalguni, Rama, Lakshmana, Sugreeva and the mighty innumerable Vaanaras army set forth towards South to give Ravana a fierce battle and rescue Sita.

विभीषण का राजतिलक

राम की सेना के लंका पहुँचने की खबर सुनते ही रावण ने अपने मंत्रि - परिषद की बैठक बुलाई । विभीषण ( रावण का भाई ) और मंदोदरी ( रावण की पत्नी ) को छोड़ कर सभी दरबारी रावण की प्रसंशा कर रहे थे । वे दोनों इस समस्या को सुलझाने का प्रयत्न कर रहे थे और रावण को बता रहे थे कि बलपूर्वक किसी की पत्नी का हरण करना, बहुत बड़ा अपराध है । मंदोदरी राम की शक्तियों को जानती थी और इसलिए वो रावण को मौत के मुँह में जाने से रोक रही थी । वह सीता को सम्मान पूर्वक लौटाने और राम के पैरों को छूकर उनसे क्षमा मांगने की बात कर रही थी । रावण की मौत निकट थी इसलिए उसने मंदोदरी की बातों पर ध्यान नहीं दिया और उसकी आलोचना से क्रोधित हो गया । विभीषण को लगा की वह रावण के साथ नहीं रह सकता इसलिए उसने अपनी संपूर्ण सम्पति को त्याग दिया और राम से मिलने पहुंचा। वानर पहले विभीषण पर संदिग्ध हुए पर राम की सलाह पर विभीषण को अपना मित्र मान लिया । राम ने विभीषण को लंकापति नाम से सम्बोधित किया और फिर उसका राज्याभिषेक भी किया ।

On getting the news of Rama's army approaching Lanka, Ravana called a meeting with his council of ministers. Most of the present courtiers were full of Ravana's praises except Vibhishana (Ravana's brother) and Mandodari (Ravana's wife). They protested and tried to reason out the situation and pointed out to Ravana that forcefully abducting someone's wife was a big crime. Mandodari knew Rama's power and asked Ravana not to go to the mouth of death himself but return Sita with due respect and ask for Rama's pardon felling on his feet. But Ravana's death was nearing so he did not pay any heed to the words and instead he was angry at his criticism. Vibhishana realised that he could not remain with Ravana so he renounced all his possessions and went straight to Rama where he had camped. The Vanaraas were at first suspicious of him but on Rama's advice accepted him as their friend. Rama addressed Vibhishana as ‘Lankapati’ and at the same time crowned him as the king of Lanka.

राम द्वारा समुन्द्र देव से राह देने की प्रार्थना

तब सुग्रीव, लक्ष्मण और विभीषण ने समुद्र को पार करने पर चर्चा की । उन्होंने समुद्र देवता से प्रार्थना करना एक उत्तम विकल्प माना । परिणामस्वरूप, राम तीन दिन तक लगातार प्रार्थना करते रहे कि समुद्र देवता उन्हें समुद्र पार करने का रास्ता दें परन्तु उनकी प्रार्थना का कोई फल नहीं मिला ।

Then Sugreeva, Lakshmana and Vibhishana deliberated on how to cross the Ocean. They thought it best to start with the prayer to the Sea-god. Accordingly, Rama sat and prayed continuously for three days requesting the Sea-god to make a passage way across the Ocean, but he received no response of his prays.

राम का समुद्र देव पर कोप

तब राम ने एक भयंकर तीर समुद्र की छाती में छोड़ा । समुद्र देवता इसे सह नहीं पाये और राम के समक्ष हाथ जोड़कर प्रस्तुत हुए और उनसे क्षमा मांगी । समुद्र देवता ने पत्थरों के सहारे समुद्र पार करने की सलाह दी । उन्होंने बताया कि नल और नील, दोनों भाइयों को एक आशीर्वाद प्राप्त है जिससे उनकी छुई हुई कोई भी चीज़ नहीं डूबती । उनकी इस कला से समुद्र पर एक पुल बांधा जा सकता है ।

Then Rama glowing with anger shot arrows as irresistible as thunderbolts into the bosom of the Sea. The Sea-god could not resist it and appeared before Rama with folded hands and begged for his pardon. Sea-god suggested to make a pass-way across him of stones touched by Nal and Neel brothers who were blessed with making, stones unsinkable merely by their touch.

राम का का समुद्र पार कर लंका जाना

राम के निर्देश पर वानर सेना ने पर्वतों और पेड़ों को उखाड दिया, उन्होंने पत्थर और पेड़ों को एकत्रित किया और नल, नील की सहायता से बहुत कम समय में एक तैरता हुआ पुल तैयार कर दिया । राम ने तब भगवान शिव की मूर्ति स्थापित कर उनकी पूजा अर्चना की और उनका आशीर्वाद लिया । वानर सेना ने पुल के सहारे समुद्र को पार किया और लंका में सुबेल पर्वत पर जा पहुंचे । हनुमान राम को अपने कंधों पर और अंगद लक्ष्मण को अपनी पीठ पर बैठा कर ले गए ।

Under the directions of Rama the Vaanara army uprooted mountains and forests, collected rocks and trees and with the help of Nal & Neel managed to build a Causeway within a very short period of time. Rama then worshipped Lord Shiva by establishing his statue there and took his blessings. The Vaanara army crossed the ocean over the causeway and reached Subel mountain. Hanuman carried Rama on his shoulders and Angad carried Lakshmana on his back.

अंगद द्वारा रावण को चेतावनी

राम और वानर सेना के समुद्र पार करने की ख़बर सुनते ही रावण बहुत घबरा गया और शहर के सभी द्वारों पर ध्यान से अपने सैनिक तैनात कर दिए । रावण की पत्नी ने एक बार फिर राम की ताकत के बारे में उसे चेताया जिसने पहले शिव का धनुष तोड़ा, विरध, कबंध और खर दूषण का भी वध किया और उसके दूत (हनुमान) के बारे में बताया जिसने उनके पुत्र अक्षय कुमार का वध किया । मंदोदरी ने कहा कि वो राम से क्षमा मांगे और इस लड़ाई का अन्त करे । परन्तु रावण उसकी यह सलाह सुनकर और क्रोधित हो गया । राम ने तब अंगद को रावण के पास यह सन्देश देकर भेजा कि वो सीता को सम्मानपूर्वक लौटा दे अन्यथा उसकी मृत्यु निश्चित है । लंका में प्रवेश करते ही अंगद ने रावण के पुत्र को पत्थर पर फेंक कर मार डाला और रक्षकों को भी मार दिया । अंगद तब रावण के महल में पहुंचा और राम की ताकत का बखान किया और उसे उनका सन्देश सुनाया । राम का बल दिखाने के लिए उसने अपना एक पैर धरती पर रखकर वहां उपस्थित सभी लोगों से उसको धरती से उठाने के लिए अपना बल आजमाने को कहा । कोई भी उसका पैर हिला नहीं पाया और जब रावण उसका पैर हिलाने के लिए उठा तो अंगद ने कहा कि की मेरे नहीं राम के पाँव छुओ और माफ़ी मांग लो । रावण जब नहीं माना तब अंगद ने अपना आकार बड़ा कर रावण के चार मुकुटों को लात मार कर राम के पास पहुंचा दिया और राजमहल की मीनारों को भी तोड़ दिया ।

On hearing the crossing of ocean by Rama and Vaanara army Ravana felt very much worried and carefully stationed his warriors on all the entrances of the city. Ravana's wife again reminded him of Rama's power who had earlier snapped Shiva's bow, killed Viradh, Kabandha and Khar-Dooshan and of his messenger's power who had killed Akhoy kumar. She asked him to go to Rama, beg for pardon and end the enmity, but he became rather angry hearing her good advice. Rama then sent Angada to Ravana to return Sita respectfully or face him for death. On entering Lanka Aangad killed Ravana's son by revolving and then throwing him on the stone and created havoc in raakshasas. Aangad then went to Ravanas Court and delivered the message of Rama and told about his power. He put his feet firmly on the ground and asked every one present to show their strength and remove his leg from the ground. No one could even move his leg. Aangad then grew up in size, rose high up and coming down kicked Ravana's four crowns to Rama and broke off the towers of king's palaces.

लक्ष्मण - मेघनाद युद्ध - 1

अंगद के लंका से लौटने पर राम ने अपने मंत्रियो को बुलाया और लंका के चार किलों पर आक्रमण करने की योजना बनाई । वानर सेना वृक्षों और महाशिलओं को हथियार के रूप में लेकर रावण के शहर की तरफ चलीं और राक्षसों के साथ एक भयंकर युद्ध आरम्भ किया । लक्ष्मण, मेघनाद ( इंद्रजीत), जो रावण का पुत्र था , से लड़ा । मेघनाद माया का सहारा लेकर बहुत भयंकर हो गया । उसने खुद को बादलों में छिपा लिया और हर दिशा से खतरनाक हथियारों की वर्षा करने लगा । उसने लक्षमण की छाती पर शक्ति बाण छोड़ा जिससे लक्षमण मूर्छित हो गए । मेघनाद ने लक्ष्मण को उठकर दूर ले जाने की कोशिश की परन्तु वह असफल रहा । जामवंत ने हनुमान को लंका से सुषेण वैद को लाने के लिए भेजा । हनुमान उन्हें उनके घर सहित ले आये । वैद ने लक्ष्मण की जान बचाने के लिए संजीवनी बूटी लाने की सलाह दी जो कैलाश पर्वत की सुमेरु चोटी में उगती थी ।

After Angad's coming back from Lanka, Rama called his ministers and planned to attack the four forts of Lanka. The Vaanara army rushed towards the doomed city with boulders and trees as their weapons and started a fierce battle with raakshasas. Lakshmana fought with Meghnad (Indrajeet) Ravana's son, who became so furious that he resorted to Maya. He hid himself behind the clouds and showered deadly weapons from all sides. He shot the deadly Shakti-Baan on Lakshmana's chest and Lakshmana fell unconscious on the field. Meghnad tried to lift Lakshmana and take him away but he could not. Jambowan sent Hanuman to Lanka to bring Sushena Vaidya. Hanuman brought him along with his house. The Vaidya advised to bring a few plants (Sanjeevani herb) that grew on a hill near Kailash peaks to save Lakshmana's life.

हनुमान द्वारा संजीवनी बूटी का लाना

तब हनुमान हिमालय पर्वत में सुमेरु चोटी पर गए परन्तु बूटी को नहीं पहचानने के कारण उन्होंने पूरी पर्वत चोटी को उठाया और लंका के लिए निकल पड़े । रास्ते में अयोध्या नगरी थी जहां भरत राम के नाम से राज्य कर उसके कर्तव्यों का पालन कर रहा था । जब उसने आकाश में एक बड़ी वस्तु देखी तो उसने एक तीर छोड़ा, जो जाकर हनुमान को लगा और वह राम का नाम जपते हुए धरती पर आ गिरे । उनके मुँह से राम का नाम सुनकर भरत अपने किये पर पछताए और हनुमान को तुरंत होश में लाकर उनसे अपने भाइयों के बारे में पूछा । सब कुछ बताने के बाद हनुमान जल्द उस स्थान पर पहुंचे जहाँ सब लोगो बेसब्री से उनका इंतज़ार कर रहे थे । बूटी की मदद से लक्ष्मण को होश आया और उनके घाव भी जल्द ठीक हो गए । वे एक बार फिर पूरी ताकत से लड़ने के लिए तैयार हो गए ।

Accordingly Hanuman went to the Himalayas and as he could not identify the herb so he uprooted the whole of hill and started back for Lanka. On the way, there was Ayodhya where Bharat was performing his duty on behalf of his brother Rama. When he saw some big object flying in the sky he shot an arrow and Hanuman fell on the ground chanting Rama's name. Bharat knew that he had done wrong. He made Hanuman conscious and asked all about his brothers. Briefing him the incident Hanuman rushed towards the spot where everyone was waiting for him anxiously. With the help of the herb Lakshmana's wounds were healed up and he became strong once again.

रावण द्वारा कुम्भकर्ण को नींद से उठाना

रावण ने तब अपने मुख्य सैनिकों को युद्ध के लिए भेजा । हनुमान ने धूम्राक्ष, अंगद ने वज्रदंत्र और नील ने प्रहस्त का वध कर दिया । रावण तब स्वयं युद्ध स्थल गया और वानर सेना को भयभीत किया । राम ने युद्ध स्थल में रावण का रथ और उसका मुकुट तोड़ दिया । खिन्न और शर्मिंदा होकर रावण ने अपने भाई कुंभकर्ण को जगाने का निर्णय लिया । कुंभकर्ण एक महान योद्धा था परन्तु एक श्राप के कारण वह कई महीनों तक सोता था और उसे जगाना अत्यंत कठिन था । सैनिकों ने ढोल नगाड़े बजाये, भयंकर ध्वनियाँ निकाली । उन्होंने उसे तीरों और तलवारों से भी परेशान किया परन्तु वह नहीं जागा । अंत में जब हजारों घोड़ों और हाथियों को उसके ऊपर से दौड़ाया गया, तब वह जागा और रावण से उसे समय से पूर्व जगाने का कारण पूछा ।

Ravana then sent his leading warriors and chief of armies to the battle field. Hanuman killed Dhoomraksha, Aangad killed Vaajradantra and Neel killed Prahasta. Ravana then went to the battle and created havoc among the Vaanara army. Rama broke the crown and chariot of Ravana when they met in the battle field. Dejected and ashamed, Ravana decided, to wake up his brother Kumbhakarna. Kumbhakarna was a great warrior but as a result of a curse he used to sleep for months together and it was very difficult to wake him up. The soldiers beat drums, blew trumpets and conches and made tremendous noise. They pinned his body with arrows and swords but he did not wake up. Finally when thousands of horses and elephants were run over his body he woke up and asked Ravana the cause of waking him up before time.

कुम्भकर्ण का राम से युद्ध और उसकी मौत

रावण ने कुंभकर्ण को राम के साथ युद्ध में सभी बड़े योद्धाओं के पराजित होने और लंका पर ख़तरे की बात बताई । कुंभकर्ण, रोते हुए रावण पर हँसा और कहा कि उसे उसके कर्मों का ही फल मिल रहा है । जब रावण ने उसे अपनी तथा लंका की सुरक्षा करने का वचन याद दिलाया तो वह वचनबद्ध भाई की तरह युद्ध स्थल पहुंचा । वहां उसने बहुत जल्द वानर सेना को खत्म कर खलबली मचा दी । अंत में राम ने एक ताकतवर भाला फ़ेंक कर उसकी दोनों भुजाएं काट दी, परन्तु तब भी वह लड़ता रहा । राम ने तब एक तीर से उसके सिर को काट कर रावण की ओर फैंक दिया । परन्तु सर कटने पर भी उसका भारी शरीर राम की तरफ दौड़ता रहा । तब राम ने उसके शरीर के दो टुकड़े कर दिए और उसकी मृत्यु हो गयी । कुंभकर्ण का सिर देख रावण खुद को शक्तिहीन और टूटता हुआ महसूस करने लगा ।

Ravana told Kumbhakarna about the slaying of all leading warriors and the danger surrounding Lanka. Kumbhakarna laughed at weeping Ravana and told him that he had received the result of his evils. When Ravana told him about his duty to protect him, he went to the battle field like a dutiful brother. There he created panic by destroying the vaanara army very fast. Finally Rama shot powerful darts at him and cut off his arms, still he went on fighting. Rama then cut off his head by an arrow but his huge body ran towards Rama for fighting. Then Rama cut off his body in two parts and killed him. Kumbhakama's head fell before Ravana and seeing this Ravana felt himself powerless and shattered.

लक्ष्मण - मेघनाद युद्ध - 2

कुंभकर्ण की मृत्यु और रावण की घबराहट देख, मेघनाद रावण के पास पहुंचा और उसे कहा कि इस बार वह दोबारा युद्ध के लिए जाएगा और राम लक्ष्मण को पराजित करके आएगा ।युद्धस्थल में अपनी माया से मेघनाद आकाश में चला गया और बाणों और भालों की वर्षा शुरू कर दी जिससे सभी योद्धा और हनुमान भी भयभीत हो गए । मेघनाद तब राम और लक्ष्मण से युद्ध करने लगा और उनपर सर्प बाण छोडे जिन्होंने दोनों भाइयों को नागपाश में बांध कर जकड दिया जिससे राम और लक्ष्मण युद्धस्थल में हिल भी नहीं पा रहे थे । तब जामवंत को पक्षियों के राजा गरुड़ की याद आई जो सर्पों का दुश्मन है । उसने राम पक्षिराज गरुड़ को बुलाने के लिए कहा । राम के बुलाने पर गरुड़ उन्हें बचाने के लिए आया। गरुड़ के डर से सांपों ने दोनों राजकुमारों को छोड़ दिया और गरुड़ ने सभी सृपों को निगल लिया ।

Hearing Kumbhakama's death and Ravana's worry, Maghnad went to Ravana and told him not to bother any more and went to the battle field. By his Maya he went to the sky and started showering arrows and darts and worried all the leading warriors including Hanuman. Meghnad then started fighting with Rama and Lakshmana and shot the deadly serpant dart which captivated them and made them unable to move on the battlefield. Rama remembered the King of birds Garuda who came at once to rescue them. The serpants left the princes being afraid of their arch enemy but Garuda swallowed all the snakes around him.

लक्ष्मण - मेघनाद युद्ध - 3

इंद्रजीत ( मेघनाद ) ने कई अन्य हथियारों का इस्तेमाल किया जिससे वो वानर सेना को भयभीत कर सके पर जामवंत ने उसकी टांगें पकड़कर उसे जोर से घुमाया और रावण के पास फ़ेंक दिया । जब मेघनाद को होश आया तो उसने अपने पिता रावण को देखा और वह बहुत शर्मिंदा हुआ । फिर वह एक पर्वत की गुफा में यज्ञ कर अमर होने के लिए चला गया । विभीषण यह जानता था इसलिए उसने लक्ष्मण को मेघनाद को रोकने के लिए कहा अन्यथा मेघनाद को हराना असंभव हो जाता । लक्षमण वानर सेना के साथ गुफा में गए और मेघनाद(इंद्रजीत) को यज्ञ के बीच ही रोक दिया । दोनों महान योद्धाओं के बीच फिर एक भयंकर युद्ध हुआ और अंत में लक्ष्मण ने अपने इन्द्रास्त्र से इंद्रजीत की छाती पर वार किया और उसे मार दिया ।

Indrajeet tried many other weapons to bewilder and create panic among the Vaanara army but Jambowan caught him by leg and threw him near Ravana. When Meghnad regained his consciousness and saw his father Ravana, he felt very ashamed and went to a mountain cave to perform Yagna. Vibhishana knew about it and told Lakshmana to interrupt Meghnad otherwise it will be very difficult to kill him. Lakshmana went with Vaanara army and interrupted Indrajeet in the middle of Yaagna. A fierce battle ensued between the two great warriors and Lakshmana killed him by Indrastra piercing in his chest.

राम - रावण युद्ध

पुत्र इंद्रजीत ( मेघनाद ) की मृत्यु की ख़बर सुनते ही रावण मूर्छित होकर ज़मीन पर गिर पड़ा । कोई ओर रास्ता नहीं होने पर वह खुद ही युद्ध स्थल पर पहुंचा । दोनों बलशाली योद्धा राम और रावण मिले और अपनी गुप्त ताक़तों से एक दूसरे पर भयंकर प्रहार किये । लक्ष्मण ने रावण का रथ तोड़ दिया और रावण के सीने में कई सौ बाण दागे जिससे रावण कुछ समय के लिए बेसुध हो गया और उसे वापस लंका ले जाया गया । होश में आने पर उसने यज्ञ करने की योजना बनाई जिससे वो अजेय हो जाये । विभीषण ने राम को यज्ञ रोकने की खबर दी और राम ने यज्ञ में बाधा डालने के लिए अपनी वानर सेना को भेजा जो अपना कार्य पूर्ण करने पर ही लौटे । इसी बीच, सुग्रीव ने राक्षस सेना का नाश कर दिया तथा विरुपाक्ष और महोदर का वध कर दिया । अंगद ने पराकर्मी महापार्श्व का वध कर दिया । एक के बाद एक राम ने रावण के सिर काटे परन्तु वह दोबारा उग आते थे। अंत में विभीषण ने बताया कि रावण की नाभि में अमृत कुण्ड है और विभीषण की सलाह पर राम ने रावण की नाभि पर ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रयोग किया जिसने अमृत सोख लिया और उसके शरीर को छिन्न-भिन्न कर दिया और उसकी अपराजेयता का गुप्त रहस्य बिखर गया । रावण अपने रथ से गिरा और उसकी मृत्यु हो गयी । इस तरह से उस महान दैत्य का विनाश हुआ । विभीषण ने अपने भाई का अंतिम संस्कार किया । बाद में विभीषण को एक समारोह में लंका का राजा बनाया गया और उसका राज्याभिषेक किया गया ।

On hearing the news of son Indrajeet's death Ravana fell unconscious on the ground. Finding no other way he went himself to the battle field. The two supreme warriors Rama and Ravana met and each was trying to slay the other by using potent missiles of secret power.Lakshmana crushed Ravana's chariot and shot hundred arrows on Ravana's chest which made him unconscious and he had to be carried away to Lanka. When he regained his consciousness he headed for performing a Yagna which would make him invincible. Vibhishana informed Rama to interrupt the Yagna and Rama sent Vaanaras for interruption, who came back after completing the mission. In the mean time, Sugreeva destroyed the raakshasas army and killed Virupaaksha and Mahodar. Angad killed the mighty Mahapasharva. One by one Rama cut off Ravana's heads but magically they were again restored. At last on advice of vibhishana Rama used the Brahmastra against Ravana which pierced his chest have and shattered the shrine where the secret of his invincibility was lying. Ravana fell down dead from his chariot and thus the great demon was killed. Vibhishana performed the last rites of his brother. Later on Vibhishana was crowned ceremoniously as the King of Lanka.

सीता की अग्नि परीक्षा

सीता राम की जीत और रावण की मृत्यु पर बहुत खुश हुई । सीता को सम्मानपूर्वक लाने के लिए राम ने हनुमान, अंगद और विभीषण को भेजा । दुनिया को दिखाने के लिए राम ने कुछ कटु वचन सीता को कहे और उन्हें अपनी पवित्रता साबित करने के लिए अग्नि परीक्षा देने के लिए कहा । वास्तव में राम सीता को उनके वास्तविक रूप में पाना चाहते थे क्योंकि रावण ने केवल सीता की परछाई का अपहरण किया था।वास्तविक सीता तो तभी से राम की सलाह पर अग्निदेव के साथ रह रही थी, जब वह सुनहरे मृग के पीछे जा रहे थे । लक्ष्मण ने भारी मन से अग्नि की व्यवस्था की क्योंकि उसे सत्य का पता नहीं था । सीता अग्नि में से होते हुए अपने वास्तविक रूप में आई और अग्निदेव ने उन्हें राम को समर्पित कर दिया ।

Sita was full of joy at the victory of Rama and the demon Ravana being killed. Rama sent Hanuman, Aangad and Vibhishana to Sita to bring her back with full honour. To show the world, Rama uttered a few hard words for Sita and asked her to go through fire to purify her. Rama actually wanted to get back the original form of Sita because Ravana had kidnapped only the shadow Sita Real Sita was staying with Agnideva as per Rama's advice when he went after the golden stag. Lakshmana with a heavy heart arranged fire because he did not know the fact. Sita came through fire in original form and Agnideva himself handed her over to Rama.

राम का राज्याभिषेक

राम और सीता एक बार फिर मिल गए । वे लक्ष्मण, विभीषण, हनुमान और दूसरे वानरों के साथ पुष्पक विमान में सवार हुए और अयोध्या की ओर प्रस्थान किया । भरत तथा तीनों माताए उनका इंतज़ार कर रही थी क्योंकि वनवास का समय पूरा हो चूका था । उनका सम्मानपूर्वक आदर किया गया और राम को अयोध्या का राजा बनाया गया । राम ने अपने राज्य को बहुत प्यार और ध्यान से चलाया और आने वाली पीढ़ी के लिए अच्छे चरित्र का एक उदाहरण प्रतिपादित किया ।

Rama and Sita were reunited. They along with Lakshmana, Vibhishana, Hanuman and other Vaanara soldiers ascended on the Pushpak Chariot, which carried them to Ayodhya. Bharat and all the three mothers were eagerly waiting for them as the exile term was over. They were given a hearty and tremendous welcome by everybody and Rama was crowned the King of Ayodhya. Rama ruled his kingdom with great love and care and set examples of his character for the generations to come forever.
